Is the Ketogenic Diet right for you?
Health is about the individual. What may be good for someone, may be toxic to another. What may be the best way to lose weight and keep it off or good, might not be the best option for someone else.
Personally, I follow the Ketogenic diet for health reasons, with studies showing that it is a good diet for keeping weight off, type 2 diabetes, reducing epilepsy in children, bipolar disorder and for me personally, getting my anaemia symptoms under control and giving me clarity of mind.
But this may not be the best diet for everyone. Some people with eating disorders, thyroid issues, type 1 diabetes, women who are pregnant or people who have had their gallbladder removed, should consult their doctor prior to starting Keto as this diet may not be the best option in these cases.
Don’t just follow what everyone else is doing because it’s popular. Do your own research and speak with your doctor, your nutritionist and other people who are doing the diet so you can weigh up the pros and cons and truly find out what’s going to be best for you!
I still don’t follow this diet as strictly as we are told too, but it still works for me. I get cravings and life gets busy, so I do have some bread here and there, but for me, that’s ok! You will also be able to tweak whatever diet works for you, so that it fits in with your lifestyle and needs. If you are drawn to keto or any dietary plan, do the research, speak with your doctor, put together a eating plan, and give it a go! Make it your own, so that it works for you, ensuring that it can be sustainable for long term!
